Wildseed’s creative director Jesse Cleverly says, “being new and trying to get your first break is really hard. We set Wildseed up to find brilliant new creators, often with no track record, who we mentor to bring their ideas forward so they get to be the next generation of voices.” Wildseed is passionate about discovering fresh stories and the team pride themselves on nurturing raw talent. They love finding new voices with lots of potential, and using their industry knowledge and experience to turn that potential into exciting work. You aren’t expected to start out knowing everything already – all that is needed is a great idea and the drive to see it through. Experience and specialist skills are not needed to apply, and Wildseed is especially keen to hear from underrepresented voices. If accepted, Wildseed will help you to build up your skills and refine your concept into something that has the potential to really take off.

Miles Bullough, Managing director of Wildseed says “We pioneered this approach to talent development because we wanted to find fresh ideas from people who would not necessarily get access through the standard routes. We use our industry experience and know-how to identify and nurture new creative talent towards commissions for mainstream platforms and, judging by the results to date, we know it works.”

Drew Casson

First-time director Drew Casson was just 18 when Wildseed helped him develop his idea for a web series into a full length feature film. He produced and directed ‘Hungerford’ and was the youngest director ever to premier their film at the BFI London Film Festival. From there, ‘Hungerford’ went on to win multiple awards and was picked up by Netflix. Drew then directed a second sequel film, and now, at 25, has recently directed a third film: the Netflix Original ‘The Last Bus’. And this is just one of the amazing stories of the many projects that make up Wildseed’s portfolio!

If you’re feeling inspired but not sure where to start, Wildseed has got you covered by putting together a series of bootcamp videos to help you get your pitch up to standard. The videos are packed with invaluable tips, such as forming your idea, writing interesting characters, constructing a plot and building your world, right through to how to structure your pitch.

Jesse advises you to make sure you really love your idea; ‘success in the content business is, now more than ever, driven by passion projects from unique voices and, as we know from joyful experience, when we find raw talent and mentor their creative vision, we find the next generation of hits.’
