OPPORTUNITY: Events Volunteer

We are looking for two new people to join the team at Freestyle Bristol The roles are Events Volunteer and Communications and Social Media Volunteer.

Freestyle Bristol a community focused social enterprise and digital platform curated by young people, for young people. Our work shines a light on young people in Bristol, and we offer ways for young people to join projects where like-minded people can meet and collaborate. We are a non-profit organisation and volunteers play an important role in helping us support young people.

We’ve got an exciting programme of events coming up over the next six months and we’re looking for an Events Volunteer to come and help us make them happen! Events Volunteer 

Freestyle Bristol is a digital platform curated by young people, for young people. Our work shines a light on young people in Bristol, and we offer ways for young people to join projects where like-minded people can meet and collaborate. We are a non-profit organisation and volunteers play an important role in helping us support young people.

We are looking for an Events Volunteer who can commit 2-4 hours a week to help manage our club nights, fundraising and networking events which create opportunities for young people. This role might suit a professional with a few hours to spare for a meaningful cause or possibly someone returning to work and in need of some experience. We are looking for someone who would be willing to work from home if needed, who can commit 2-4 hours one morning or afternoon per week, with some flexibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist the development of new events – with the purpose of raising funds, building awareness and creating opportunities for young people to connect
  • To coordinate event logistics, including liaising with venues and suppliers, overseeing ticket sales and responding to enquiries, and sharing this information within our team
  • To build awareness of each event through social media and other means

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of planning and delivering events including promoting them via social media and websites such as Eventbrite, Skiddle and Headfirst Bristol
  • Good working knowledge of social media including Instagram, Facebook Twitter, TikTok and running paid promotions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident with spreadsheets
  • Self motivated with strong time management skills
  • Ability to work well within a team

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Canva or similar graphic image creating software
  • Experience of and strong skills in developing and maintaining relationships.
  • Strong written communication skills and confident and friendly verbal communicator, good at putting people at ease
  • Confident with email marketing and using Mailchimp
  • Positive can-do attitude
