At the end of a long week, what better way to decompress and re-energise than with dreamy beats and rippling, luminous bars? Thankfully, Bristol fans can count on all this and more, courtesy of West London artist Bawo who will be touching down at Rough Trade on Friday night.
Bawo’s seemingly effortless delivery turns profound emotions into liquid lyricism. Lilting over beats as crisp as early-spring morning air, his tracks see him open up about love, friendships, family and work, among other things. The deceptive breeziness of latest single Starts With a Text is matched by the soft-dreaming Why Else, its glistening backing wrapped around a deeply honest and vulnerable core.
Taking inspiration from his Nigerian heritage, as well as the garage, grime and hip-hop he grew up around, Bawo is an innovative and exciting voice in the UK scene.
Tickets for this Friday are sold out, but you can join the waiting list here
Bawo will also be playing:
Brighton on March 5,
